HOW DOES JESUS BEHAVE WITH REGARD TO PRAYER?

During his earthly life, Jesus prayed:

• according to the rhythms and prayers of his people

• frequently, even at night, in solitude an especially before decisive moments of his mission

• saying: “Abba, Father” (St. Mark 24:36): his was a prayer of filial relationship, rising out of his being the eternal ‘Son of God’

• for us, as our priest; in us as our Head and guide; we pray to Him as our God.

The entire life of Jesus is an unceasing prayer, of deep and intimate communion with God His Father: His words and His actions are the visible manifestations of His continuous prayer.
